Domakonda Fort is a historic and cultural landmark in Telangana, located in Domakonda village of Kamareddy district, approximately 115–117 km from Hyderabad and about 17 km from Kamareddy town. Built in the 18th century on earlier fortifications, this impressive fort—also known locally as Gadi Domakonda or Killa Domakonda—features an elevated granite wall, ornate gateways and a striking two‑storied palatial mahal called “Addhala Meda”, showcasing a blend of Mughal and Western architectural influences. The complex also houses an ancient Shiva temple believed to date back to the Kakatiya period, making it an important religious and tourist attraction in Telangana. Domakonda Fort’s rich heritage and ongoing conservation efforts were recognised internationally when it received the UNESCO Asia‑Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation – Award of Merit in 2022, highlighting its significance as a preserved symbol of regional history.
